Students: The students are the most precious possession of the department. They have a very good track record in academic activities as well as in every aspects of the campus life.
Infrastructure: The department is situated at the first floor of the Humanities Building. The greatest positional advantage of the department is its close proximity to the Central Library. It has a separate lecture room and a seminar library of its own. The seminar library has a small but very useful collection. It has also a collection of e-books and e-journals which the students and teachers can use according to their requirements. The department is fully equipped with computers and other accessories and connected to the web through broadband.
Future Plan: We have a plan of extending modern facilities of teaching-learning and research to both the students and teachers associated with the department. The students should be exposed to the present state of the world of learning through internet and other agencies in the era of globalization. They have to be trained up in the art of thinking originally. We have a plan of offering some career oriented training related to history (IAS, WBCS, SSC, and the like) to the students of the department so that they can use their three years study of history in a more fruitful manner. The students of history could perform extremely well in the administrative services other than teaching and research professions and we have to explore it properly. We have also a plan to undertake some research projects in the department. We also have a dream to make it a PG department.
