B. B. College is to be proud of its central library – it is unique in itself. The library is enriched with more than 50,000 books, periodicals & current journals. It is the store house of some invaluable materials since time immemorial. It has, at present the Book Bank and Internet facilities; the software cataloguing system etc. Apart from the Day Section library, it has got two separate sections : Morning & Evening. Morning section library opens for the students at 7:00 a.m. on all working days, and the Evening section stops functioning at 6:00 p.m.; in between the two, the day section renders very effective service to the students in general, providing them books and other reading materials for reading room purpose and lending facility. One Honours student can obtain two books at a time for 15 days. Besides, each Science, Arts & Commerce Department is furnished with a very sound seminar library from where Honours students specially get specialised materials like Specific – reference books, disc, question bank etc. The library is trying its best to arrange intra departmental loan and intra college reference books facilities for the students. The P. G. Library of the Deptt. of Physics is the glory of the College. Recently Internet facility (Broad Band BSNL) is available in the Central Library.
‘Retro conversion and digitalization” project is just to be completed, Opac (online public access catalogue) would be available to all concerned students and staff. Our Library is thus mostly computerized with Soul Software. Our future project is – library through mobile, i.e. all information regarding the functioning of the library, its operational process etc. would be provided to the students through mobile only. Institutional repository is our future plan through which all exam oriented papers, notes, suggestions of the college & other neighboring colleges including University model, guideline etc. would remain reposited in the library website. We are pledged to provide photocopy facilities to the students and staff from the ensuing session. Provision for Academic Research Journal is our vision.
We are to introduce a new Reading Room facility to the students who can enjoy the free access to the journals, periodical & magazines after their own choice for their manifold benefits.
Fully automatic Library facilities regarding lending, barrowing, selection of books from computerized catalogue would be provided in no time. Books, journals and other important materials are preserved in fully air-conditioned library and we are in mind to provide A.C. facility to the reading room students in near future. On demand only and on official purpose, students also can enjoy the internet facility from the library – we are pledged to provide all these facilities to all and alike. The Wi Fi campus is our dream.
